Velvet Elvis

So I love trying new cafes and restaurants and yesterday I got to do just that with a little shopping thrown in.
I didn't have much planned for Sunday I was just going to have a chilled out day watching films and searching the internet when this place popped up on my Facebook page, Velvet Elvis.
I didn't know what it was at first but I loved the name and it drew me in. Turns out it is a lovely little coffee bar and vintage shop that has just opened in durham. (and I mean just open that day!) As you walk in you are welcomed in to an Aladdin's cave of vintage clothing and hand made jewellery (some of the jewellery is made by one of the owners Dawn) which are beautiful! This is run by David. Once you have had a rummage through the rails you can then head upstairs to the coffee bar where I was welcomed by a lovely and friendly team. I had a fruit scone and peppermint tea, it was to die for. All the cakes and scones are locally sourced, I love that!
But keep your eyes open because a little birdy told me that at some point in the future they will be running classes in the workshop next to the coffee bar, where Dawn will be teaching people how to make their own jewellery!
